Solar Power For emergency power and communications, I have a small solar installation. The KC4TM beacon runs solely from this system along with some lighting and radios in the shack.
Two siemens SR-50 (front) and one 80 watt Solarex panels keeps the batteries charged.
Six Trojan T-605 6 volt batteries in series for 12 volts provides 700 amp hours of storage.
The electric panel showing the master disconnect (upper left), the Solar Boost charge controller (below). And on the upper right is the 120 VAC breaker panel with a 1000 watt inverter mounted below. The white and black wires exiting the box on the right side feed 12 volts to a distribution panel in the ham shack. |
